What happened?
Too many failed sign-in attempts on this account in a short window. To protect you from someone trying to guess your password, Knotsautomatically pauses sign-ins for a cool-down period.
How long does it last?
The cool-down length scales with the number of recent failures: usually 15 minutes for the first lockout, longer for repeated ones. The login page shows the exact unlock time when you try to sign in.
What can I do right now?
- Wait for the cool-down to expire, then sign in normally.
- Reset your passwordif you're unsure what it is — a successful reset clears the lockout immediately.
- Check that you typed the right email. A typo in the email field counts toward the lockout for the wrong account.
I didn't try to sign in
Then someone else did, and the lockout did its job. Reset your password as a precaution — even if the attempts failed, knowing your email was targeted is reason enough to rotate. If you keep seeing locked-out messages without trying to sign in, contact support.
